Seventh Annual Tour of Tsalteshi
Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025
Feb. 11 update from race organizers:
The Tour of Tsalteshi Committee met last night and made the tough call to cancel the 2025 Tour as a race. There isn’t enough snow in the forecast to expect we’ll be able to improve conditions come Sunday, and Tsalteshi will have a busy week of youth and school programming in the meantime, which will further erode the trails. We don’t have confidence the fields and access hills around the Skyview Trailhead will be in good enough shape by this weekend to offer the quality experience we want for the Tour.
Just because we can’t offer a high-quality race this year doesn’t mean we can’t still have a good time! The trails around Tsalteshi’s K-Beach Trailhead are still in great shape and won’t get as much use this week as the upper trails. Please join us from 12-2:30 p.m. Sunday and go for a ski or bike on the trails. Open to classic and skate skiers and fat-tire bikers (no foot traffic or dogs). Please observe posted trail directions and be aware we’ll all be out there together.
There is no fee for the meetup, and you don’t need to register in advance, just come on out. We will have a donation bucket to help defray the expenses we’ve already incurred in planning this year’s Tour. And we have a “Nothing But Party” category on the registration page if you’d like to donate that way. We’ll hand out Tour of Tsalteshi water bottles to the first 50 participants, and we’ll have tunes and a fire pit set up at the trailhead. If the parking lot fills up, there’s overflow parking at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex across K-Beach Road.
And we’re still on for the afterparty! Join us at 3 p.m. at Kenai River Brewing to toast to better snow winters to come!
